Mommy Makeover

A Mommy Makeover restores the shape and appearance of a woman’s body after childbearing. Many areas of the body may be addressed, most commonly the breasts, abdomen, waist, genitalia and buttocks. A mommy makeover may be performed as a single or multi stage procedure depending on the procedures involved. These may include:

A good candidate for mommy makeover is:

  • An adult in good medical health
  • An adult at her ideal body weight
  • An individual with a positive outlook and realistic expectations
  • An individual finished with child-bearing

Depending on the mommy makeover procedures performed, there will be immediately visible results, though the final results will typically revolve over several months. With time, implants settle and scars improve, although they’ll never disappear completely. There trade-offs are felt by most women to be small compared to the large improvement in their appearance and self-confidence after surgery.

Like every surgery, mommy makeover surgery includes risks such as anesthesia risks, bleeding, infection, poor healing of incisions, hematoma, fluid collection (seroma), loss of nipple sensation, inability to breast feed, implant leak, capsular contracture, anaplastic large cell lymphoma, unfavorable scarring, recurrent looseness of skin, fat necrosis, deep venous thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications, asymmetry, persistent pain, contour deformity, fat embolization and possible need for revisionary surgery.

Good mommy makeover results are expected, but there is no guarantee. In some situations, it may not be possible to achieve optimal results with a single surgical procedure and another surgery may be necessary.
